Rooted in Cincinnati’s architectural past, The Royce began its story in the 1860s as a Gothic-style church that served as a cornerstone of the downtown neighborhood for generations. With its soaring stone façade, stained glass windows, and grand proportions, the building reflected the craftsmanship and permanence of a bygone era—designed not just to serve a purpose, but to endure.
Throughout its history, the space welcomed community gatherings and significant moments, including a visit from President William Howard Taft, who once stood on the steps of the building and addressed congregation there during a stop in Cincinnati. These moments are woven into the walls of The Royce, adding depth and meaning to every celebration hosted here today.
